The ‘Not-To-Do’ ListAs your socials will currently be awash with ‘new year new you’ & hundreds of ways to live a better life in the year ahead – here’s my antidote or perhaps some inspiration for what could be on your work ‘not-to-do list’ for the year ahead…

  1. Don’t bother comparing yourself to others as it is generally the thief of all joy
  2. Don’t just lean in, lean out too – stepping back & taking risks takes courage but it’ll be worth it
  3. Don’t just give to those to those who demand your time – wherever possible spend it with those who deserve it
  4. Don’t just blend in at work – if something is not right for you then find ways to change your environment
  5. Don’t forget most flawed work systems are due to faulty or missing information – the quality of how you communicate & engage will set you apart
  6. Don’t ask what went wrong – ask what just happened
  7. Don’t hold on to past professional injustices – accept the apology you’re never going to get & move on.
  8. Don’t worry too much about which of competence or confidence comes first – push ahead, you’ll work it out & be just fine
  9. Don’t forget that humanity trumps pedigree every time
  10. Don’t tell people you’re a comedian – make them laugh!
