Coaching as an accelerator

Coaching as an acceleratorQuick question…when you see one of these at the airport what do you usually do?

  • Hop on & enjoy something else taking the strain
  • Self-righteously move to the side & get your steps in
  • Stop & consider the last time you used one – having found it such a moving experience

Where is this metaphor going you may ask?

Well, thankfully a lot of the time at work we have the luxury of choice – we can just see the way ahead & crack on without the need for anyone or anything else. Sometimes however we need support – someone or something to help us create that initial momentum, to start us on our way, maybe get us there a little quicker.

That is where coaching comes in. Three stats for you – organisations with a strong coaching culture:

  1. …see a 72% correlation between coaching & increased employee engagement (Source: ICF)
  2. …see a 12% increase in job performance in times of change & uncertainty (Source: BetterUp)
  3. …92% reported improvements in leadership & management effectiveness (Source: Coaching Counts)

So, whilst investing in coaching for an individual is hugely beneficial, investing in coaching for your organisation or for those who lead it, can be transformative.

If you are sitting around the leadership team table scratching your head at what your next move should be, why not try one that improves engagement, performance & effectiveness.
